My God, do I ever look bad...hate to admit it, but mine are very PRECISELY organized by date (chronological) on the CD rack...labeled, even with print out color inserts for each year (sorry, no print out of song lists for shows, so haven't gone completely over the edge yet)...have binders for those I carry in the cars, and those are also chronological.

No man, that's cool, I hate not being able to find what I want.

There are a bunch of CD's sliding around my truck, too. They get scratched, skip, I have to reburn, and then I beat myself up about it. Oh, I just go to pieces, people!

calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean . . . .

buy a car with one of those "aux" jacks so you can plug your i-pod device directly into your car stereo. key item to have in any new car. plus, I keep a few random CDs in the car. when I get tired of them, I burn a few new and archive the others - and seldom go back. at home, completely digital; play very few CDs. I am constantly getting new material from the LMA and the stream/record gig from sources like Rhapsody, plus others.
My personal goal: constantly move forward.

That is a good idea I have taken on the past few months: instead of burning them to the official, stored in boxes with labels, etc., approach, I label the disk only and put them in the car minibinders and just have them in the car. Then, if I really love them, they go into the in house collection, labeled on the rack, etc.

Thanks.

I would have to go with the William Tell method
not to be confused with the rhythm...

EVERYTHING is in chronological order. Every single of the
thouuuuuuuuuuusands of just Dead discs...in order. 1,10,100,1000,10000, you get it.

There is even a special auxilery (sp) cd case just for Dead.
They go out, have some fun, and go Right back. Its like
tucking them into bed after a day of frollicking.

Oh, and as far as the other collections:
if there is a date associated with them, thats always first
then,
Alphabetized!!
Adam Ant is in the front and Zappa is in the back.

Its one of the only things in my life that I am truly anal
about. Funny.

But now that I enter The Ipod Phase, its helpful.

And everytime I shove a piece of coal up my ass, I get
a diamond (which is every third thursday, during a full
moon, no pun intended, in months that have a letter "a"
in them), which would explains how I can afford the dozens
of cd cases that infect my rooms

great question though....
